Where growth, support, and connection come together

Who We Are

For more than 30 years, SPOTS has helped children and families build confidence, skills, and everyday successes through hands-on occupational therapy.

  • At SPOTS, every child is met with patience, curiosity, and individualized care. We take a child-centered approach that looks beyond challenges to understand the whole child — their strengths, needs, personality, and story. Through evidence-informed therapy, hands-on learning, and strong relationships with families, we create meaningful, achievable goals that support growth at home, at school, and in everyday life.

We join children on their journeys, celebrating the bravery it takes to build new skills. We don’t try to “fix” a child, or change who they are. Rather, we integrate each child’s uniqueness, creativity, playfulness, and curiosity into our strategies for addressing challenges and difficulties. This approach builds new strengths, while emphasizing each child’s inherent worth as fundamental, regardless of skills demonstrated or milestones achieved.

  • Our work is grounded in connection, compassion, and collaboration. We believe children thrive in environments where they feel safe and supported, and where progress is celebrated in all its forms. We value open communication with families and prioritize a warm, welcoming atmosphere where every child is understood and encouraged. These values guide every session, every plan, and every interaction within our clinic.

  • SPOTS has been a trusted part of the Brooklyn community since 1998. What began as a small occupational therapy practice has grown into a dedicated, multi-therapist clinic serving families across the city. Over the years, we’ve continued to evolve our programs, expand our services, and refine our approach — all while staying true to our core mission: to help children build confidence, skills, and resilience in the moments that matter most.

Let's work together

Our Founders

SPOTS was founded by Prudence Heisler and Paula McCreedy, two dedicated occupational therapists who shared a vision: to create a nurturing, child-centered clinic where families feel supported and empowered.
