Frequently Asked Questions

  • Common signs include challenges with fine or gross motor skills, sensory processing, handwriting, self-care tasks, or difficulty engaging in play, school, or daily routines.

  • Any questions can be answered at the time you schedule your evaluation appointment.

  • Evaluations with the child take approximately 1.5 hours. The child’s evaluation is immediately followed by a private discussion between the parents and the examiner. This parent conference includes a discussion about the evaluation results and recommendations. Children should not be present and therefore parents should arrange for somebody to care for the child elsewhere.

  • The child should take the prescribed medication. We want to see your child at his or her best. It is important that you try to give your child a good night’s sleep. Scheduling should occur when your child has not been overstressed, over-scheduled or over excited.

Your child should wear casual, comfortable clothes and sneakers or tennis shoes for the evaluation process.

  • You can schedule by calling our office or emailing our team. We’ll guide you through intake, paperwork, and what to expect on your first visit.

  • SPOTS provides occupational therapy services for children from infancy through adolescence, typically ages 6 months to 16 years.

  • SPOTS does not bill health insurance directly; however, we provide coded invoices (superbills) that families can submit to their insurance for out-of-network reimbursement.
